2007 Reading Round-up

This is by no means an exhaustive list, but these are the main books I read in 2007. My to-be-read pile is expanding rapidly, partly due to a good haul at Christmas, partly due to a big tidy when I discovered a number of books I had slightly forgotten about. This means 2008 needs to include lots of reading. Hurrah!

That's interesting. Which one was your favourite? Maybe I'll keep a list for 2008. The first book on it would be the Woman's Hour Book of Short Stories, I think it's the fourth anthology they produced, and I'm enjoying it a lot.

That's an interesting question Zinnia, and I have no idea! 'The Book Thief', 'Suite Francaise' and 'The Seventh Gate' stick out, and I LOVED 'The Diamond Age' (even though it got lost in my car for about 5 months!). Reading 'Rebecca' for the first time was a bit of a revelation too, and I've resolved to read more Daphne du Maurier, but also Christopher Priest, Arturo Perez-Reverte and Ian McEwan. And I keep remembering other books that aren't on the list, so I may have to update it!

I am so pleased the you liked 'The Seventh Gate', as I feel that this is a sadly neglected book, and 'Suite Francaise' as these are amongst my top recent reads and the books I am nagging everyone to read. 'The Book Thief' is lurking close to the top of one of my piles of 'to be reads' so I will look that out and read that next. Love your blog by the way.

Thanks Riverwillow! I'm hoping to read some of the other books by Richard Zimler this year, they look fascinating, and am also considering the possibility of dusting off my French to try 'Suite Francaise' in the original.
